Kamala Harris and Tim Walz accused former President Donald Trump of 'weakening the middle class' and intending to 'give tax breaks to billionaires/ with his economic plans, speaking at a campaign rally in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, on Wednesday.

"Will be far worse than it was four years ago raising costs for the middle class, repeating repealing the Affordable Care Act, cutting Social Security and Medicare," said Walz

Harris also criticised Project 2025, the vast and nationalist plan for a second Trump administration, echoing Walz's concerns about its potential impact on the middle class. "It is a plan to weaken the middle class. If he is elected, Donald Trump intends to give tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations," addressed Harris.

Vice President Kamala Harris also placed importance in Wisconsin's crucial role in the upcoming election. "The path to the White House runs right through this state, and with your help, we will win in November. We are going to win," Harris added.

Harris picked Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to be her vice presidential running mate. Walz is in his second term as the state governor and chairs the Democratic Governors Association.

Following the nomination, former US president and Republican nominee Donald Trump shared a fundraising email saying that Walz would be the 'worst VP in history' and would 'unleash hell on Earth' as well as open borders for 'the worst criminals imaginable.'

US President Joe Biden, who was participating in the presidential campaign until July, announced that he would not be seeking re-election on July 21 via X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

Following Biden’s statement, Vice President Kamala Harris announced her intention to become the candidate of the Democratic Party.

The US presidential election is scheduled for November 5. On July 15, the Republican Party convention nominated Donald Trump as their candidate for the 2024 race.
