Description

German government spokesperson Steffen Seibert said that "everything must be taken into account" when it comes to the investigation into the Ukrainian passenger jet crash in Iran. He made the comments during a press conference in Berlin on Friday.

"We do not have our own knowledge about the possible cause of the crash. But research and advice about a possible rocket having been fired at this airplane must of course be taken into account," he said.

"So, through the investigation into the causes of this crash, everything must be taken into account, and not only a possible technical failure of the aircraft," he added.

Western leaders have said that an Iranian missile may have caused the downing of the Boeing 737-800, possibly in error. Iran denied that a missile strike from its air defence systems was responsible.

A total of 176 people died when Ukrainian International Airlines flight PS752 crashed shortly after taking off from Tehran's Imam Khomeini airport en route to Kiev.
