Description

Hundreds of protesters held a rally outside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's residence in Jerusalem on Thursday, calling on the Israeli leader to resign and an end to the Gaza war.

"We want all the hostages freed, and we want to end the war, and we want the government to retire because we do not trust Netanyahu," said Neiv. "We do not trust our government because all they are causing is pain and war, and people lose their lives."

Footage shows the crowd around a huge fire in the road, waving flags and holding pictures of those still held captive by Hamas. The authorities can be seen extinguishing the blaze.

"Sick and tired of you, and your day has come, the people will overthrow you!" claimed Ben, adding that the government had 'ruined and destroyed' everything. "This government is the worst government that could be established and makes the biggest, biggest damage to Israel in all fields," claimed another protester.

Netanyahu has claimed his administration is doing all it can to free the hostages and 'defeat' Hamas in Gaza. Last week, he called on his coalition government to 'get a grip' following weeks of infighting and has also accused the US of withholding weapons, which Washington has denied.

Fighting in Gaza between Israel and Hamas is now in its ninth month. Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on southern Israel on October 7, killing 1,139 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapping over 200, according to Israeli officials.

Israel declared war on the group and a 'complete siege' of Gaza with a large-scale campaign of air strikes. A ground incursion began at the end of the third week, with Israeli leaders vowing to 'wipe out' Hamas. Palestinian officials reported that at least 37,000 people had been killed at time of publication.

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) claimed that Hamas locations and infrastructure were targeted in the response. However, United Nations experts warned against 'collective punishment' for the people of Gaza, before predicting a 'humanitarian crisis' and then claimed that 'hell is settling in' for the region.
