Description

Severe floods and landslides claimed at least 16 lives while hundreds were reported missing on Friday as Bosnia-Herzegovina declared a nationwide state of emergency.

Footage captured in its central region of Donja Jablanica shows several houses and establishments submerged in water as local authorities were seen using excavators to remove rubble from the landslide-hit area.

According to media reports, the flooding has also spilled over Bosnia and has reached Montenegro, cutting off the Komarnica village.

Neighbouring Croatia also experienced rising water levels in rivers, particularly near the Kupa River in Karlovac, which prompted flood warnings.

Local authorities announced that search and rescue operations remain ongoing for missing victims of the floods and landslides.

Bosnia's election commission postponed local elections this weekend in municipalities affected by floods, but mentioned that it will continue holding the polls in other areas.
