Syrian Olympic weightlifter Man Asaad was treated to a hero's welcome in Jdeidet Yabous on Saturday following his return from the Olympic Games in Tokyo where he earned his country its first medal since 2004.
"The competition was strong between international athletes," Asaad commented, thanking his coach Qais Asaad for his guidance.
Asaad won the bronze medal in the men’s +109 kg weightlifting, the first Olympic medal since Syria received a boxing bronze in 2004.
