Description

Residents were seen returning to their homes in the al-Tai neighbourhood in Qamishli on Monday, after a Russia-mediated permanent ceasefire was announced in the area.

It happened after days of deadly fighting between the Kurdish Asayish forces and the National Defence Forces (NDF) supporting the Syrian government.

Kurdish soldiers and military vehicles could also be seen on the streets.

The northeastern city of Qamishli remains largely under the control of the Kurdish forces, while the NDF is present in the area of the airport and some neighbourhoods.
