Locals marched carrying flags of the Republic of Artsakh, making their presence felt at the Turkish Embassy which was heavily guarded. Demonstrators later released sky lanterns before gathering at Syntagma Square.
Hripsime Haroutounian, an Armenian resident, said "We are here to remind the people about this disgraceful war and ask for sanctions on Turkey and Azerbaijan, because nothing ended with the deal that was signed one year ago."
The conflict in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding territories between the self-proclaimed Republic of Artsakh, Armenia and Azerbaijan broke out on September 27, 2020, and lasted for a month and two weeks, killing around 7,000 people.
