Description

The first anniversary of the Karabakh Victory was celebrated in Baku, Monday.

Thousands of people were seen holding a large 440-meter Azerbaijani tricolor to mark the first anniversary of Azerbaijan's victory in the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war.

"Today my husband could have participated in this parade. And I should have been with him, with our children. As sad as this day is for me, it is also a joyful one. I congratulate the Azerbaijani people on their holiday," serviceman's widow said.

The procession ended with the flash mob "Iron Fist," organised with the support of the Regional Development Public Association.

On November 8, Baku marks the anniversary of Azerbaijan’s victory in the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war, established by a presidential decree of 2 December 2020, and commemorates the taking of Shusha city.

In Armenia, in turn, a rally of ex-president Robert Kocharian’s bloc was held in Freedom Square in Yerevan on Monday. The "Armenia" bloc timed it with the anniversary of the signing of the trilateral statement that ended the 44-day war in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan signed a trilateral statement on a ceasefire in Nagorny Karabakh on 9 November 2020. In accordance with the agreements, a ceasefire and end to all hostilities in the conflict zone came into effect from midnight on 10 November. According to the signed document, a Russian peacekeeping contingent of 1,960 servicemen, 90 armored personnel carriers, and 380 units of vehicles and special equipment were deployed in the area.
