Monday’s latest 6.4-magnitude earthquake was reportedly centred in the town of Defne, around 20 km (12.43 miles) east of Samandag in Hatay province. It was also felt in Syria, Egypt and Lebanon.
The recent quakes reportedly left three people dead and over 200 injured, according to Turkey’s Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu.People in Hatay province were warned by the disaster agency to stay away from the coast as the quakes might cause the sea level to rise by 50 centimetres (20 inches).
At the time of publication, the total combined death toll of the earthquakes on February 6 had exceeded 46,000.
