The House impeachment managers rested their case in Donald Trump's trial at the US Senate in Washington on Thursday, after two days of presenting arguments for impeaching the former president.
''January 6 was a culmination of the president's actions, not an aberration from them. The insurrection was the most violent and dangerous episode so far, in Donald Trump's continuing pattern and practice of inciting violence," lead impeachment manager Jamie Raskin said.
"Their (the rioters) own statements before, during and after the attack make clear, the attack was done for Donald Trump, at his instructions and to fulfil his wishes. Donald Trump had sent them there. They truly believed that the whole intrusion was at the president's orders. And we know this because they said so. Many of them actually posed for pictures, bragging about it on social media and they tag Mr Trump in Tweets," impeachment manager Diana DeGette told the Senate.
On Friday, Trump's lawyers are set to present their case for acquittal, and a final vote in the trial is expected to come in the weekend or beginning of next week.
