UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Labour party leader Jeremy Corbyn faced off in a televised debate in London on Tuesday, ahead of the upcoming general election set to take place on December 12.

The two leaders sparred over Brexit, funding for the NHS, as well as their plans for economic spending and their trustworthiness.

The studio audience erupted in laughter as Johnson said the truth matters and is "very important," after the debate moderator asked him if it mattered in the election.

The prime minister attacked Corbyn for what he characterised as his failure to answer "the fundamental question; is he for remain or leave?"

The Labour leader meanwhile presented the election as a "once in a generation" opportunity for voters to "give the National Health Service the funding it needs, to give people the final say and get Brexit sorted, to tackle the climate emergency that threatens our futures."
