Russian figure skater Anna Shcherbakova refused to answer a reporter's question about the situation surrounding Kamila Valieva at a press conference on Tuesday after the short programme in the women's singles skating in Beijing.

"Obviously, the dominant talking point of the past week has been your teammate Kamila [Valieva]. What’s your reaction to this situation, and what can you tell us about her state of mind?" asked a Daily Mail journalist. "I will not say anything about this situation, sorry,” replied the figure skater.

Kamila, who was allowed to compete today, tops the standings in the short programmes. She did not attend the press conference since she was feeling unwell.

The 15-year-old figure skater tested positive last week to a banned doping substance but was allowed to continue competing in the Olympic Games, sparking backlash and criticism of IOC's handling of the case.
