Description

Customers lined up to get served by a robotic arm at a bar in the Beijing 2022 Olympics Main Media Centre on Tuesday, in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19 at the upcoming games.

The electronic arm was seen mixing drinks from behind the bar, with a human helper serving guests the finished products.

According to reports, the android is able to mix drinks in 90 seconds flat. Customers are able to order via phone by scanning codes.

The robot bartender joins a host of robot waiters in the dining hall of the media centre.

To further prevent the spread of COVID-19, a closed-loop system has also been implemented at all three Olympic venues in Beijing, Zhangjiakou and Yanqing, with the aim to restrict access to press hotels, sports venues and the Main Media Centre. Unvaccinated participants will be required to quarantine for 21 day after entering the loop.
