Uncommon in China, the market was a curiosity for unfamiliar visitors and a shot of nostalgia for those who had seen some elsewhere.
"I used to study in Germany so basically every year I would go to Christmas market. I feel wonderful and very happy being here," said Liang Hanchen.
Wu Jiarui, another visitor, said "the food, buildings, little houses, the Christmas tree and everything, are all very similar (to the Christmas market I've been to in Europe)."
