Syrian Arab Army made advances west of the town of Tal Tamr in the countryside of Hasakah Governorate on Tuesday.
"Now we are in the countryside of Hasakah, in an area called Sharq Alia, and we are securing presence in these areas close to the granaries and militants' strongholds." a SAA soldier said.
According to reports by the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the SAA is currently present in the villages of Salmasa, Um al-khair and Gharnata west of Tal Tamr in the countryside of Hasakah Governorate.
The advance of the SAA follows an agreement with Kurdish groups to help defend the region against Turkey's military offensive dubbed 'Operation Peace Spring,' which was announced on October 9 with the stated aim of establishing a 'safe zone' in north eastern Syria.
