Description

Berlin's Goerlitzer Park manager, Cengiz Demirci, spray-painted the zones for drug dealers in the park, as footage filmed on Thursday shows, sparking criticism among police and politicians.

Known for being a hotspot for drug dealers, the park has now unofficial 'deal' and 'no deal' zones since Monday.

Demirci reportedly explained his move by saying that park’s visitors will no longer be intimidated by drug dealers, who usually group near the entrance of the park. The critics though claim, that this move might signalise legalisation of drug trade.

The designated pink zones have not been authorised by the District office of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg area where the park is located.
