Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno during a presser in Tokyo on Friday refuted China's claim over an exclusive economic zone following military drills.
"China launched ballistic missiles, five of which fell into our country's exclusive economic zone. The launch of ballistic missiles by China into the waters near our country, including our EEZ, is a serious issue concerning our national security and the safety of our people," he explained.
"The training area unilaterally established by China this time includes the waters on the Japanese side of the median line, i.e., Japan's exclusive economic zone, and we believe that China's claim is not true at all," he further added.
On Thursday morning, China launched extensive military exercises, including ballistic missile launches, around Taiwan to protest speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi's visit to the island.
According to Tokyo, five of those missiles fell into Japanese waters.
