Footage shows crowds of executives and investors engaging in critical discussions on the latest innovations and strategies for the African energy industry through an interactive conference and networking event.
Papa Samba Ba, Director of Hydrocarbon at the Minister of Oil and Mines of Senegal, noted some of the country's most notable projects in the industry, such as the Sangomar oil field, the GTA (Grand Tortue Ahmeyim) initiative collaborated with Mauritania, and reforms in laws concerning the oil sphere.
"Before starting any offshore project, we run a very rigorous process in order to ensure that the fishing sector will not be negatively impacted by this offshore activity and we are monitoring that throughout the creation. I think this is an example of where we put focus and priority at the government level, "he emphasised.
Lanine Conde, General Director of the National Society of Petrol (Sonap) of Guinea, meanwhile stressed the need to construct local refineries for a variety of materials, as well as revealing the inauguration of Africa's own bank in the petroleum sector in 2025 to fund the continent's projects independently.
"Anything we as Guineans are doing is in connection with sub-regional development. We have been part of all the ECOWAS initiatives, making our energy market unified," the director remarked.
Every year, AEW unites African energy leaders and global investors from both the public and private sectors for four days of dialogue on Africa's road to energy development. The event was established in 2021 to tackle energy poverty by hosting panel discussions, and industry summits to facilitate important discussions between key stakeholders.
The 2024 edition of AEW kicked off on Monday and will run until Friday.
