George Floyd's family, legal team, and several civil rights activists held a prayer vigil outside the courthouse during Derek Chauvin's trial in Minneapolis on Monday.

''We are a whole global group of activists, freedom fighters, and young people who believe that we can be better than this America, and we stand united. And we have this global prayer for justice,'' said Floyd family's lawyer Benjamin Crump.

Rodney Floyd, George Floyd's brother, thanked everyone reaching out to them in support from all across the world.

''Being here since day one gave me so much courage and great conversation with some of you. We would also like to thank people of the local community, and the activists that have stepped up, so many people stepped up for the city, standing up for George, standing up for what is right, for what they believe in because they want to make sure their fallen member is not a hashtag,'' he said.

The former officer, Chauvin's trial began on March 29. He has been charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter and third-degree murder after being filmed kneeling on Floyd's neck for nearly nine minutes, leading to his death.
