Iranian alpine skier Hossein Saveh Shemshaki said the results of his positive doping test was "was not intentional," during a video statement in Beijing on Saturday.
"I certainly could not have made such a mistake on purpose, given my previous experience and the lack of motivation to win a medal," stated Shemshaki.
Responding to several questions, Shemshaki said he could not explain, "how and from where this energising substance entered my body."
He apologised several times to the sports community, and said: "I wanted to show my best performance, and for that, I exercised and worked hard for a few years."
"Now the result of all my efforts is wasted," he added.
The skier will not be allowed to compete, train, coach or take part in any other activities during the Winter Games.
