Description

National Guard officers queued up to receive a hot meal prepared by the World Central Kitchen (WCK), as they carry out their duties ahead of President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration, in Washington DC, on Tuesday.

The World Central Kitchen is a non profit organisation, founded by celebrity chef Jose Andres, that is dedicated to providing food typically following natural disasters. This time, however, their mission is to feed first responders, deployed to prevent violence during Biden's inauguration.

Jose Andres and other members of World Central Kitchen hope their food relief programme will ease the burden on the troops.

"All the first responders, they have so much else going on, they have so much on their plates, that this helps us do what we do best and they can focus on what they do best, " said Tim Kilcoyne, Chef Operations Director at the WCK.
