Description

Thousands of protesters hit the streets of Yerevan for the so-called 'March of Dignity', Thursday, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan for signing the Nagorno-Karabakh agreement with Azerbaijan.

Protesters gathered on Alabyana Street and marched through the city via the Kiev Bridge and Bagramyana Avenue to the Square of France, escorted by law enforcement. Protesters could be seen chanting, “Nikol – liar” and “Nikol – traitor” in Armenian.

“We have never had such treason in our history. What Nikol Pashinyan signed with his Soros allies is a tragic and painful agreement, which can never be accepted nor by the international community, nor by Armenian citizens, neither by Karabakh citizens,” protester Khachik Melikyan said.

Protests in Yerevan broke out after Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a Russian-brokered deal to end the fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh on November 9. As per the trilateral agreement, a number of Nagorno-Karabakh districts came under the control of Baku. The unrest in Yerevan resumed after Prime Minister Pashinyan rejected the call by the opposition to step down by December 8.
