01:17A Russian military convoy was seen moving along the Yerevan - Stepanakert highway to clear mines in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region, on Tuesday.
"Today the military convoy advanced along the route Yerevan - Stepanakert in order to fulfill the tasks of humanitarian demining. In the course of the task accomplishment modern engineering weapons will be used," stated lieutenant colonel Dmitry Klyuchevsky, the deputy head of the Center for Humanitarian Demining.
Among other equipment, a Uran-6 multi-functional robotic complex will be used in the operation.
Following weeks of hostilities, Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a Russian-brokered deal to end the fighting over the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
Under the terms of the deal, 1,960 Russian peacekeepers will be deployed in the disputed region to monitor the ceasefire.
The agreement also sees Azerbaijan obtaining control of the territory taken in the most recent fighting, and Armenia relinquishing control of further areas held since the 1990s.
