The Taliban have appointed Malalai Rahim Fazi as the maternity hospital chief of the Malalai National and Specialized Hospital in Kabul on Wednesday.
The nomination marks the first appointment of a woman since the militant group took power in the country in August 2021.
The Afghan Health Ministry said Faizi will be the director of Malalai's maternity ward, a position which so far has always been held by a woman, according to Afghan TV channel Ariana.
