Prior to the gathering and over the past weekend, thousands of Minnesota National Guard and Minneapolis police officers were deployed throughout the city amid fears of unrest.

Chauvin was found guilty on all counts including second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in the death of George Floyd, a Black man who died after Chauvin kneeled on his neck and back for more than nine minutes.

Sentencing in this case is expected in around eight weeks, with Chauvin facing up to 75 years in prison.
