Thousands of protesters gathered at the Freedom Square in Yerevan on Monday, to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, on the anniversary of the Nagorno-Karabakh peace treaty signing.

Former President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan and supporters of his Armenia Alliance called for the demonstration, accusing Pashinyan of "failure in the negotiation process." Kocharyan called for a "nationwide resistance" saying, "We must all unite. We must give strength to this resistance movement to the best of our ability."

Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan signed a trilateral statement on a ceasefire in Nagorny Karabakh on 9 November 2020. In accordance with the agreements, a ceasefire and end to all hostilities in the conflict zone came into effect from midnight on 10 November.

According to the signed document, a Russian peacekeeping contingent of 1,960 servicemen, 90 armoured personnel carriers, and 380 units of vehicles and special equipment were deployed in the area.
