The Progress MS-28 cargo spaceship blasted off from Baikonur Cosmodrome, bound for the International Space Station (ISS) on Thursday.
Footage shows the Soyuz-2.1a rocket with the spacecraft on the launch pad, before rising into the sky and entering orbit.
According to the Roscosmos press service, all stages of the launch were completed successfully. The docking of Progress MS-28 to the Russian segment of the ISS is scheduled for August 17.
Roscosmos also stated that the cargo spaceship would deliver 2,621 kilograms of cargo for the crew of the 71st long-duration expedition, including equipment for scientific experiments, clothing, food, medical and sanitation supplies, fuel and nitrogen to replenish the station’s atmosphere.
The launch of the rocket was the ninth in 2024, the fifth from the Baikonur Cosmodrome and the third with a cargo module.
The Soyuz-2.1a carrier rocket was constructed by the Progress Rocket Space Centre, while the Progress MS-28 spaceship was designed by the S.P. Korolev Rocket and Space Corporation (RSC) Energia.
