A special Russian Emergencies Ministry flight was seen loading 33 tonnes of humanitarian cargo for the people of Lebanon on Thursday.
Footage shows specialists placing boxes of food, basic necessities, medicines and mobile power units into the cargo hold of the IL-76. The Ministry added that the flight was on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
On Tuesday, Israel began a 'limited and targeted' ground incursion into Lebanon, following a week-long campaign of airstrikes in the south of the country. More than 1,200 people were reported killed and 7,000 more injured in the airstrikes at time of publication, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.
Last Friday, an attack on Beirut's southern suburbs killed Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah and others. Iran launched a wave of missiles on Tuesday, which is said was in response to that assassination and others.
Tensions in southern Lebanon escalated in mid-September after mass explosions of Hezbollah-linked pagers and handheld radios. The group has exchanged cross-border fire with Israel since the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023.
