Description

Russia will reduce oil production in 2023 by 20 million tonnes compared to 2022, Russian Minister of Energy Nikolai Shulginov stated during an interview at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

"We expect a decrease in production, exactly by 20 million tonnes compared to last year. Therefore, we live in such conditions," he said mentioning the expected decrease in gas production.

Shulginov also commented on the risks of a global energy crisis and noted that a relatively warm winter in Europe may not happen again this year.

"The winter in Europe can be warm again as it was last year. Or it can be normal. Everyone is now thinking how to survive the next winter. And others think how to survive the summer, due to the heat and the growth of consumption," he claimed.

The minister added that the crisis might occur only as a result of the rash policy being pursued.

The 26th SPIEF takes place on June 14-17. According to the organiser Roscongress, more than 17,000 people from 130 countries and territories will participate.

The Forum has taken place since 1997. Since 2005, SPIEF is held under the patronage and with the participation of the president of the Russian Federation.
