Speaking at the Eurasian Women's Forum in St Petersburg on Thursday, Farzaneh Baniasad Azad, the third Secretary of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, said the expansion of international co-operation would contribute to 'sustainable development, welfare, and security globally'.

"Technologies, despite the challenges they pose, also present unprecedented opportunities. <...> Increased international and regional co-operation rather than true monopolistic and restrictive policies that undermine state sovereignty and interfere with internal affairs will promote sustainable development, welfare, and security globally," she said.

Director General of Disability Affairs of the Ethiopia Ministry of Women and Social Affairs Kabeto Asalayfew Amedin said that the country aims to promote the active participation of women in politics.

"Representation of women in the House of Representatives rose to 41.5 percent in 2021, from 38.8 percent in 2015," he said, and pointed out that women currently occupy 36 percent of ministerial positions.

The IV Eurasian Women's Forum, which takes place in St. Petersburg from 18 to 20 September, is the largest international platform for discussing the role of women in modern society.
