Description

The inaugural launch of the Angara-A5 rocket from the Vostochny Cosmodrome was cancelled two minutes before liftoff on Tuesday.

Footage shows the Angara launch vehicle on the ground as the dispatcher announced the delay.

Roscosmos chief Yuri Borisov stated that the process of preparing for the Angara-A5 launch had been stopped by automation for technical reasons.

"The automation stopped the launch process due to a failure of the central unit oxidiser tank pressurisation system. In this situation, a fuel drain is foreseen. We will figure out the final reasons," Borisov explained.

The head of the state corporation added that the next attempt is preliminarily scheduled for Wednesday.

According to the company, the Angara-A5 is environmentally friendly and does not use toxic fuel components, unlike the Proton-M which it is set to completely replace in the near future.
