According to the Deputy Director General of the Directorate for Sports and Social Projects, Mikhail Leonov, around 60 people from across 10 countries came to participate in the major sports event.
"Today we are expecting teams from Latin America, the Asian region," he added.
Aliakbar Jalilvand, an athlete from Iran, said he was looking forward to competing against the Chinese team, admitting they were 'really, really challenging'.
Meanwhile, Estonian athlete Atar Sakhokin said his team felt '100 percent confident' as they had been preparing for the tournament for around three months.
The first Games of the Future international phygital tournament will take place in Kazan from February 21 to March 3. Football, basketball, laser tag and skateboarding, among many others, will see competitors battling in real-life and via video games.
