03:48Participants in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2023 signed more than 900 agreements worth almost 4 trillion rubles, Anton Kobyakov, adviser to the Russian president and Executive Secretary of the Forum's Organising Committee, stated at the concluding press conference on Saturday.
"More than 900 agreements were signed at the forum for a total amount of [around] four trillion rubles, three trillion 860 billion [rubles]," he stated.
The Executive Secretary added that the largest foreign delegations to SPIEF included the United Arab Emirates, China, India, Myanmar, Kazakhstan, Cuba and the United States, while 150 companies from 25 'unfriendly' countries attended the forum.
Kobyakov noted that the Russian economy successfully repelled the onslaught of Western sanctions.
"[The sanctions] are really global. The main point is that we are doing just fine without the so-called Western partners, and the economy is developing," he said.
The presidential adviser added that 'about a half of foreign companies from unfriendly countries decided to stay in Russia and continue their economic activities'.
The 26th SPIEF takes place on June 14-17. According to organisers Roscongress, more than 17,000 people from 130 countries and territories will participate.
The Forum has taken place since 1997. Since 2005, SPIEF is held under the patronage and with the participation of the president of the Russian Federation.
