Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova accused the United States of spreading 'endless fabrications' regarding the Crocus City Hall terrorist attack near Moscow, at a briefing in Moscow on Wednesday.

"We have become so accustomed to the Americans on the one hand stuffing some data into the information space and then denying their own statements that I would like to ask you to get factual material from the American side on this subject. That is, when? To whom they passed this information. We have heard different information about Crocus City Hall from the USA and its satellites, so first let them tell us to whom and what they have given. Because we are really tired of their endless fabrications," Zakharova stated.

Reports emerged on Tuesday suggesting that the US had alerted Moscow about potential terrorist threats to the Crocus City Hall two weeks before the incident. However, Zakharova expressed scepticism and demanded concrete evidence from the American side.

Similarly, Sergei Naryshkin, director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, confirmed receiving a warning from US intelligence agencies regarding a possible attack. However, he emphasised that the information provided was too vague and did not offer actionable intelligence.

"Yes, indeed, the Federal Security Service has definitely received information from the US intelligence services that such a thing is unfortunately possible. But as our Russian colleagues said, the information was too general and did not allow us to fully identify those involved in this terrible crime," Naryshkin remarked.

Late on March 22, unidentified individuals dressed in military fatigues opened fire in the Crocus City Hall, a 6,000-seat multipurpose concert hall where a Russian rock band was set to perform. A massive fire broke out in the building shortly after.

Over 140 people were reported to have been killed while several suspects were captured and remanded in custody until May 22 on charges of 'terrorism'.

Putin himself said it was a 'barbaric terrorist act' and that suspects had been caught trying to cross to Ukraine. While he added that 'radical Islamists' were responsible, he also hit out at the US for 'trying through various channels to convince its satellites and other countries of the world that, according to their intelligence, there is allegedly no trace of Kiev in the Moscow terrorist attack'.

"We want to know who ordered it," he added, while the Russian Investigative Committee subsequently said it had evidence of links to 'Ukrainian nationalists'.

Following the attack, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said it 'categorically denies' accusations of Kiev’s involvement. US national security spokesperson John Kirby called the Russian Investigative Committee's allegations 'nonsense and propaganda'. Earlier, the United States claimed that it was a 'terrorist attack that ISIS conducted' and that there was 'absolutely no evidence that the government of Ukraine had anything to do with this attack'.
