Leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states signed more than 20 documents including the final Astana declaration during the concluding day of the summit held in the capital city of Kazakhstan on Thursday.

The list of adopted agreements consists of the Astana Declaration of the Council of Heads of State and Government, the draft SCO Development Strategy until 2035, documents on the approval of the Programme of Cooperation of SCO Members in Combating Terrorism, Separatism and Extremism for 2025-2027, and a number of others.

The 24th SCO Heads of State Council meeting chaired by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is being held in Astana on July 3-4.

Leaders are discussing the outcomes of the SCO's activities for 2023-2024, and exploring co-operation in political, security, economic and humanitarian affairs.

After the summit in Kazakhstan, the organisation’s presidency will pass to China for 2024-2025.

The organisation comprises India, China, Russia, Pakistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan - and now Belarus - as well as 14 dialogue partners and three observer countries.
