Exclusive footage taken over the weekend shows him applying water from a sealed bag, with the liquid turning into a kind of mask.
"I did not expect the water to behave this way and to make face washing that special and interesting," Borisov said. "It becomes jelly-like, and it is attracted to the face, and it stays on it, if you hold still, this is where the water stays. <...> Now you can move, it flows right across the forehead as if alive," he continued.
Konstantin added that water droplets can escape but fortunately dry quickly and do not damage the kit.
The cosmonaut arrived at the ISS aboard the NASA SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft with the Crew-7 expedition on August 27. The crew also included NASA astronaut and Crew-7 commander Jasmin Moghbeli, European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Andreas Mogensen and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) astronaut Satoshi Furukawa.
Borisov is the third Russian cosmonaut to fly to the ISS aboard a SpaceX rocket, after Anna Kikina and Andrey Fedyaev, who arrived at the station in October 2022 and March 2023 respectively.
