Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Vietnamese counterpart To Lam took part in the official ceremony for the signing of final documents on their strategic partnership following top-level talks in Hanoi on Thursday.

Footage also features Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitri Chernyshenko and Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long exchanging a signed agreement on co-operation in higher education.

Putin arrived in Hanoi for a two-day visit on Wednesday at the invitation of Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the country’s Communist Party.

The agenda for the state visit also includes meetings with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and National Assembly Chair Tran Thanh Man.

The last time the Russian leader travelled to the republic was in 2017, when he attended the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) summit in Da Nang.

Earlier, Putin visited Pyongyang and held talks with DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) leader Kim Jong-un.
