The moment of a UAV strike on a residential multi-storey building in the Russia-Ukraine's border city of Kursk was caught on CCTV on Sunday. Footage shows a thick cloud of smoke covering the building after the hit.
The Russian Investigative Committee reported a 'deliberate UAV attack by the AFU' on the city, adding that all the drone fragments collected at the scene would be sent for further examination. According to Kursk’s Mayor Igor Kutsak, there were no casualties following the incident.
At the time of publication, the Ukrainian side had not commented on the UAV attack on Kursk.
Moscow launched a military offensive in Ukraine in late February 2022 after recognising the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR), claiming that Kiev had failed to guarantee their special status under the 2014 Minsk Agreements, and urging Ukraine to declare itself officially neutral and give assurances that it would never join NATO.
Kiev denounced the Russian action as an invasion. Zelensky imposed martial law throughout the country, announcing a general mobilisation, while the EU and the US imposed several rounds of sanctions on Moscow.
