UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived at the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation (SCO) Plus meeting in Astana on Thursday.

The footage shows a motorcade with politicians approaching the Independence Palace, where they were met by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The leaders were seen shaking hands and then posing for a photo.

A meeting of leaders and heads of delegations in the SCO Plus format will take place in Astana on Thursday. They will discuss the organisation's cooperation with invited countries on international and regional issues.

The 24th SCO Heads of State Council meeting chaired by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is being held in Astana on July 3-4.

Leaders are discussing the outcomes of the SCO's activities for 2023-2024, and exploring co-operation in political, security, economic and humanitarian affairs.

After the summit in Kazakhstan, the organisation’s presidency will pass to China for 2024-2025.

The organisation comprises India, China, Russia, Pakistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan - and now Belarus - as well as 14 dialogue partners and two observer countries.
