Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi touched down in Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan on Tuesday for the Kazan BRICS Summit.

Footage shows the Tatarstan's Head Rustam Minnikhanov welcoming the president at the plane ramp and shaking his hand, while al-Sisi is seen tasting traditional local sweets.

"A very beautiful city," the Egyptian leader can be heard saying.

The 16th BRICS Summit in Russia's Kazan is scheduled for October 22-24. World leaders from more than 20 countries are expected, with delegations from over 30 nations, for one of the major economic, political and cultural events of the decade.

Russia has chaired BRICS since January 1, 2024. The group also expanded this year, growing in both size and influence to nearly half the world’s population and a third of the global economy.
