Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that all agreements made with Chinese President Xi Jinping were be implemented, during a meeting with Zhao Leji, head of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, on the sidelines of the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum in St. Petersburg.
"We have recently seen our friend, the president of the People's Republic of China, on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Astana and discussed once again the most important issues of our interaction. Everything we agreed on is working properly, and I ask you to convey the best, most friendly wishes to the president of the People's Republic of China," Putin emphasised.
Putin also highlighted the significance of the 'parliamentary dimension' of co-operation and expressed gratitude to his Chinese colleagues for their joint efforts at this level.
"It keeps in view the most important aspects of our interaction and creates a favourable atmosphere for achieving our goals and solving the tasks that we formulate as priorities. This includes the economy as well as humanitarian ties. Nothing can be left out of parliamentary activities, because in one way or another it requires parliamentary legislation," the president added.
In response, Zhao Leji conveyed 'warm greetings and best wishes' from Xi Jinping to Putin.
"Since the beginning of the new presidential term, under your leadership, the people and government of Russia have been protecting state stability and security and ensuring social and economic development. Your country is confidently following the path of its own development. We are sincerely happy about these achievements and express our firm support," Zhao Leji concluded.
The 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum takes place in St Petersburg from July 11-12, with delegations from 17 countries participating.
