Russia's Minister of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov, stated that the Russian economy is open to increased cooperation in the manufacturing sector at a meeting of business leaders from BRICS countries in Nizhny Novgorod on Friday.
"Together we can identify growth points and think about new mechanisms and formats of interaction. For our part, we are open to productive dialogue ready to share experience and developments in the industrial sphere. Our manufacturing industry is showing significant growth thanks to systemic government support," Alikhanov stressed.
The minister also said that the combined trade turnover of BRICS countries reached $300 billion [€27 billion] last year.
"According to the results of the first five months of this year, we also see continued growth which is 6.3 per cent this year. It is clear that now there has been an expansion, the figures I gave for 2023 did not take into account the new states that joined the association. We hope that such positive dynamics will continue, in any case, we have all the prerequisites for this," he added.
According to the Ministry of International and Interregional Relations of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the participants of the meeting discussed issues of joint industrial development of the countries of the association. The delegations also visited an exhibition of folk crafts.
Russia has held the BRICS presidency since January 1, 2024, when five more countries - Egypt, Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Ethiopia - were invited to become full members.
