Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry and the two shared a joke on the sidelines of the Russian-Arab Co-operation Forum in Marrakech on Wednesday.

Footage shows the diplomats exchanging handshakes, as the Russian minister noticed Shoukry already had an official pin badge for the event.

"I can give you my badge if you want," offered the Egyptian foreign minister, as they laughed and sat down to begin their discussions.

The Russian Foreign Ministry's press office said the ministers discussed the prospects for Russian-Egyptian co-operation, including at the BRICS and UN platforms. Lavrov also thanked the Egyptian side for helping to evacuate Russian citizens from the Gaza Strip during the escalation of the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Lavrov arrived in Marrakech on Wednesday to attend the 6th session of the Russian-Arab Co-operation Forum. The meeting participants discussed the situation in the Israel-Hamas conflict zone, crises in Yemen, Libya, Syria and Lebanon, as well as co-operation within BRICS, the UN and other international platforms.
