Chinese ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui said that Moscow and Beijing 'show readiness to strengthen co-operation in humanitarian field' on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) on Friday.
"We consider that we grew up reading Soviet works and watching Soviet films. Today, Chinese printed materials and Chinese movies have reached Russia. I think this is very good, and we hope that this momentum will continue to develop," Hanhui noted.
The Chinese diplomat also described the current state of humanitarian cooperation as 'very productive' and noted that two films premiered in Russia in 2023 'were very well received by the public'.
"The relations between the two countries, cooperation and friendship between the two nations have a long history. Humanitarian cooperation cannot be neglected against the backdrop of growing economic and trade cooperation between the two countries," Hanhui said.
The 26th SPIEF takes place on June 14-17. According to organisers Roscongress, more than 17,000 people from 130 countries and territories will participate.
The Forum has taken place since 1997. Since 2005, SPIEF is held under the patronage and with the participation of the president of the Russian Federation.
