Putin is set to pay an official visit to Pyongyang on June 18-19 at the invitation of DPRK's leader Kim Jong Un. During the visit, the heads of state are scheduled to hold discussions on various topics such as the economy, energy, agriculture, trade, international relations, and security.

This visit marks the Russian president's second trip to DPRK. In 2000 he met with the current leader's father and predecessor, Kim Jong Il.
