German citizen Rico Krieger thanked President Alexander Lukashenko as he received his pardon on Wednesday.
He was previously convicted of terrorism and faced the death penalty in Belarus.

"Thank you, Mr Lukashenko, thank you. Thank you for forgiving me. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to see my daughter. <...> I'm unbelievably happy, my hands are shaking," Krieger shared.
Krieger was charged over an explosion at Ozerishche railway station not far from Minsk in October 2023. There were no casualties following the incident.
According to media reports, the German national was believed to be part of a wider prisoner exchange involving Russia, Belarus and the West, although this was not confirmed by the authorities at time of publication.
