The Russian Pacific Fleet was seen conducting combat exercises as part of the Ocean-2024 strategic drills.

Footage published by the Russian Defence Ministry on Monday shows servicemen conducting a simulated attack on enemy positions and manoeuvering tanks as well as an armoured personnel carrier BTR-82A across the training field. Warships can also be seen entering the waters of the Sea of Japan, where troops performed complex combat firing exercises using missile systems.

The commander of the anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) crew, who is known by his call sign 'Topaz', reported that the servicemen practised 'counter-attack' strategies.

"We took up the fight. When the enemy artillery began to work on us, the order came to withdraw to the lines of concentration. Our unit is replenishing its ammunition and preparing for a counter-attack to drive the enemy from their occupied positions and throw them into the sea," he said.

The commander of the assault platoon, known as 'Kerch', added that the knowledge gained by soldiers during the training helps them fulfil 'important tasks' during their offensive in Ukraine.

Russia's Defence Ministry reported that a joint unit of the Russian Navy and the People's Liberation Army of China participated in the maritime episode of the exercise. More than 15 Russian warships, two diesel submarines and about 10 helicopters were involved in the training, including China's destroyers Xining and Wuxi and the frigate Lin Yi.

The Ocean-2024 exercises take place between September 10-16 in the waters of the Pacific and Arctic Oceans, as well as the Mediterranean, Caspian and Baltic Seas.

According to the Kremlin press service, the drills involve more than 400 ships of various types, 125 helicopters and planes from naval aviation and the air force, approximately 7,000 weapons and over 90,000 servicemen.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the purpose of these exercises is to test the combat readiness of all units of the Navy and the All-Union Aerospace Forces.
