The Chairman of the Indian Secretariat of the SCO Business Council Tribhuvan Darbari said that many nations are interested in becoming a 'part of the BRICS fraternity', speaking on the sidelines of the BRICS 2024 International Municipal Forum in Moscow on Tuesday.

"There is a lot of demand for different countries, both developed and underdeveloped, to become a part of the BRICS fraternity. Because BRICS is a very powerful forum, very vibrant forum, and India and Russia as two formidable members of the BRICS have a lot of commitment to growing the BRICS fraternity and ensuring that the companies from different parts of the BRICS nations co-operate, share the best practices and come together in a big way to do more trade and commerce to increase the levels of engagement," he said.

Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) Congress CEO from United Arab Emirates Walid Farghal claimed that representatives of different cities could share 'their experience, knowledge and the best practice', underscoring that this meeting was 'very important'.

"The BRICS Municipal Meeting is very important to have all the cities in one place where each one will be sharing their experience, knowledge and the best practice that they have developed in their cities with all other cities. Also, it can be a platform for knowledge transfer, to transfer technology from one place to another place. I believe that this meeting is very important. We signed a partnership within BRICS and we look forward to developing more projects and more opportunities for the cities through this partnership," Farghal said.

Mayor of Tunha, Colombia, Mikhail Krasnov added that the forum was the 'most ideal place' to find investors for the region and its development.

"How can we develop the region? Only by reaching out to external investors. It is the very BRICS platform, it is the municipal platform that I think is the most ideal place to find people who would like to invest in our absolutely virgin market," he said.

The BRICS 2024 International Municipal Forum took place in Moscow on August 27-28. The event was aimed at exchanging experience and ideas between representatives of regional and municipal governments from BRICS countries, as well as at building effective business communications with entrepreneurs from Russia and other partner countries. Delegations from 126 countries and representatives of 89 Russian regions were expected at the event.
