Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reported that Russia-China relations were developing dynamically, despite ongoing changes in the world, during a meeting with Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu in St Petersburg on Tuesday.

"Together […we will…] conduct diplomacy at the highest level, to constantly enrich is the essence of strategic interaction between China and Russia. Sino-Russian relations in the new era remain highly dynamic amid tectonic changes in the global process. The source of confidence and energy for our relationship lies in the strategic direction of Xi Jinping and Putin," the diplomat said.

Meanwhile, Shoigu stressed the comprehensive nature of co-operation between the two countries. He also added that Iran’s membership of BRICS created new opportunities for closer mutual co-operation, while talking to Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Akbar Ahmadian.

"Iran's accession to BRICS has created additional opportunities to improve the quality of our interaction to form a unified and indivisible Eurasian security architecture and a fair polycentric world order," he concluded.

Shoigu held bilateral talks with Venezuelan, Cuban, Vietnamese, South African, Iranian, and Chinese officials during the meeting of representatives of BRICS and BRICS+ countries taking place in St Petersburg on September 10-12.
