Russian Air and Space Forces units have successfully launched a Soyuz-2.v light-class carrier rocket with a military spacecraft from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk Region, the Russian Defence Ministry's press service reported on Friday.

The footage shows transport staff placing the ship in the launch position and carrying out the launch.

The ministry informed that the launch of the spacecraft into the intended orbit was conducted in a normal mode.

"After the launch, the Soyuz-2.1v carrier rocket was taken for escort by means of the ground-based automated control complex of the German Titov Main Test Space Centre. At the estimated time, the spacecraft was placed into the target orbit and taken over for control by the ground-based space forces of the Air and Space Forces," the report said.

The previous launch of a Soyuz-2 class rocket took place on 27 December 2023.
